Fabricate and provide Friction Drums in accordance with NAVSEA drawing 7322026. Basic quantity 108 each, Option One 212 each, and option two 156 each. The Friction Drums are special new technology to fit in Navy standard hauling winches are approximately 21-5/8 inches outside diameter, 19 inches inside diameter, and 11-7/8 inches long. Friction Drums are centrifugally cast aluminum bronze material with an integral layer on the drum inside diameter reinforced for wear resistance with rounded titanium carbide particles distributed in bronze matrix. The aluminum bronze matrix is C95400 alloy per ASTM B271. During centrifugal casting the titanium carbide particles, which are lighter that the bronze matrix, migrate to the inside of the mold. After matching, the inner layer of wear resistant titanium carbide particles in aluminum bronze matrix is approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick, and the outer part of the friction drum is monolithic C95400 aluminum bronze. The delivery schedule for the basic quantity is 3 months after contract award and 3 months after exercise of option one and two. Duration of contract is from January 1999 through April 2000.
