via, albaughjy@oro.doe.gov. The US Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge
Operations (ORO) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to
procure the commercial disposal of a maximum 3,000,000 cubic feet of
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and/or state-regulated
hazardous mixed (hazardous and radioactive) low level waste (MLLW). The
radioactive components may include but are not limited to the
following: Americium, cadmium, cobalt, cesium, indium, radium, thorium,
uranium (234, 235, 236, and 238), and depleted natural uranium. The
waste may contain RCRA and /or state-regulated hazardous constituents
meeting land disposal restriction requirements. Waste will be
characterized per disposal facility requirements and shipped by truck
or rail in compliance with applicable Department of Transportation,
Environmental Protection Agency, and DOE regulations and orders. Title
to the waste shall transfer from DOE to the contractor. It is
anticipated that one or more fixed unit price, Indefinite
Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts will be awarded for a
base of 2 years with 3 one-year option periods. Contractors must have
-- or be able to obtain in 24 months from the date of contract award --
the facilities, capabilities and regulatory approvals to dispose of
RCRA MLLW. The RFP will be transmitted by E-mail. Requests for the RFP
