The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Atomic Physics Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Dr. Marya Doery, 328 East Diamond Ave., Apt 5B, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 for the continuation of programming assistance for collisions of cold trapped atoms. This is a follow on effort of Order Number 43NANB760280 for the creation of theoretical models for Bose-Einstein condensates and atom lasers. This requirement is for a twelve month period of performance. FOB Destination. No solicitation package will be issued. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued to Dr. Doery. The Contractor is the only individual capable of performing this service because it requires, in addition to software codes previously developed by the contractor, detailed knowledge of computer codes for solving the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation, applied to NIST experiments on Bose-Einstein condensates, and codes for solving close coupling scattering equations for two-body collisions for photoassociative processes in Bose-Einstein condensates. It would not be possible for another individual to achieve this degree of expertise in the time required for the completion of this contract.
