The Naval Air Systems Command is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) to determine the availability of current technologies to develop a reconfigureable readiness trainer to support full aircrew readiness training for P-3C Update III ASUW Improvement Program (AIP) and P-3 Update III Block Modification Upgrade Program (BMUP) aircrew operators. A RFI package is expected to be available on or about November 5, 1998, via the internet on the NAVAIR homepage at the following address: http://www.navair.navy.mil/air20/air214/solicndx.h. This RFI package will consist of a draft Detail Military Characteristics (DMC) document. The DMC document establishes a preliminary set of performance requirements for the training device and should be used as a guide in providing a response to this RFI. Responses should address programmatic and development issues including, but not limited to: (1) Availability of technology; (2) Modification of existing training devices vice new builds; (3) Architectural alternatives including the use of GFE, GFE and COTS/NDI, or COTS/NDI only; (4) Life Cycle Support; and, (5) Risk assessments associated with engineering development, cost, and schedule.
