Sozanski, Contracting Officer, Tel. 617/495-7376, FAX 617/496-7992, email: psozanski@cfa.harvard.edu The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) requires thirty-six (36) optical glass lens blanks with diameters ranging between 10.7 cm and 36.4 cm and central thicknesses between 2.5 and 11.8 cm. The materials have MIL codes 557587, 589612, 603606, 497811, 548458, 620363, 532490, and 487703. SAO requires material with very high UV transmission exceeding 96.5% per 25 mm at 365 nm and 99% per 25 mm at 390 nm. The lens blanks are to have high refractive index homogeneity (plus or minus 2 x 10-6) and low internal stress (6 nm/cm stress birefringence). Delivery is required within 8 months.
