Government intends to issue a solicitation to define an open standards
hardware and software architecture for a family of affordable software
reprogrammable radios to meet military communications requirements in
a competitive non-developmental item (NDI) environment. This JTRS
architecture must be interoperable, scalable, affordable and leverage
commercial standards to the maximum extent possible. The government's
intent is to create an atmosphere where the views of diverse sectors
can be considered in the development of an open architecture. The open
standard architecture also has applicability to civilian agency
applications. On Wednesday, 18 Nov 98, the JTRS Joint Program Office
will host an Industry Day at The MITRE Corporation, Westgate Building,
McLean VA from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. A map to the Westgate Building is
located at www.mitre.org/about/location/westgate-map.html. The purpose
of this conference is to discuss the JTRS Consortium solicitation and
have the Services discuss preliminary JTRS migration planning.

should submit their name, address, phone number (voice and fax), firm
