Request for Proposal is for information and planning purposes only.
Industry is requested to make suggestions, changes and corrections to
the draft statement of work. This will be a Firm Fixed Price Indefinite
Quantity/Indefinite Delivery contract with location at Ft Gillem,
Forest Park, Georgia to perform local Gunsmith repairs and inspection.
This is not a presolicitation notice. It is contemplated that this
requirement can be satisfied using small business set-aside procedures
and a two year requirement type contract (one basic with two one year
options). The Government has preference to satisfy its needs through
the acquisition of commercial items. The contractor shall inspect,
calibrate, test and repair hand held weapons, all types of Army Weapons
such as rifles, pistols, cannons, air rifles, pellet guns, automatic
and semi-automatic, single shot, pump and all other types, a listing of
guns to be serviced are listed at the end of this synopsis. Interested
parties are encouraged to submit a statement of work for repair and
maintenance of small arms. All responses must be in writing and
received by 11/12/98. Responses should contain Company Name, Address,
Point of Contact, Phone & Fax numbers, Size of Business. Contractor
must have a qualified gunsmith with at least five year of experience
inspecting and repairing military or similar weapons. Contractor will
perform services at Ft Gillem, Forest Park to perform repair and
maintenances. Contractor shall inspect the weapons and provide report
which will include any repair parts if needed. The Government will
provide all parts for repair & maintenance of all the weapons.
Contractor will use the army regulation for test firing as a guidance
for repair and maintenance. The following meters and gauges are to be
used: bore erosion meter, bore straightness gauge, muzzel erosion
gauge, firing pin hole gauge, firing pin pertrusion meter, receiver pin
hole gauge and head space gauge. The following Government furnish
property is available to the contractor: arms room to work in,
electricity and lighting, restroom and washing area, telephone, key to
the gate and door upon sign out, calibration of meters and gauges,
part for repairs and parking space. Any interested contractor is
required to write a statement of how they repair, maintain and charge
their commercial accounts. The following is the approximate weapon list
by name and quantity that may need repair or maintenance for the base
year: M16-A2's 2000 each, Pistols 100 each, Shot Guns 25 each, Rifles
40 each, Pellet Guns 25 each. industry is invited to provide their
commercial practices and billing procedures to assist in developing the
