OPM TMAS is seeking sources with experience and facilities to provide propellant development and production efforts which can be related to future 120mm kinetic energy ammunition intended for the Abrams series tanks. Offerors must currently have the ability to manufacture high-energy propellant charges for tank ammunition cartridges which have demonstrated a very low temperature coefficient (i.e. less than 50 meters per second muzzle velocity variation) when fired from a 120mm cannon between 320C (-25oF) and 490C (120oF). Flame temperature must not exceed 3650oK. Propellant fabrication will be required to begin approximately 30 days after award of potential contract. Experience should include, but is not limited to, design engineering, production engineering, test and evaluation, product assurance, program management, interior ballistic modeling, cost estimation and environmental engineering. Only responses that provide technical data demonstrating achievement of the required characteristics in a 120mm combustible cartridge case tank round will be included on any potential vendors list.
