Pileggi, 301-619-4070 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) sub part 12.6., as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The Air Force Medical Logistics Office/Veterans Affairs Special Services intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a purchase order to I-Stat Corporation for a quantity of 54 I-Stat (hand-held) Clinical Analyzers, #210000. These analyzers are for the Air Force in various locations. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. These brand name specific items are part of a standardized Air Force War Reserve Materiel patient treatment readiness assemblage and have been evaluated, field tested and approved for patient care in a field environment. Because this is a brand name requirement, the Government believes that I-Stat Corporation is the only vendor that can satisfy the agency requirements described above. A J&A for Other than Full and Open Competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. Delivery, which shall be FOB Destination, shall occur not later than 30 November 1998. No solicitation is available.
