The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) is currently planning one or more Other Transaction Agreements(OTAs) for the research, development, and prototyping of a Navy Precision Geolocation System to be called the Hostile Force Integrated Targeting System (HITS). HITS prototypes will be required to operate with and interface to various Navy platforms,communication links, and receiver systems. Candidate ships for HITS include CG-47, DDG-51, DD-963, LPD-17, LSD-41, LHD-1 and SC-21 ships. Air platforms will include P-3, Navy UAV's and LAMPS helicopters. The planned vehicle(s) will be awarded in FY99 and will last for 2-3 years. The requirements of this system are specified in a HITS Performance and Requirements (P&R) document, which will be made available to interested offerors after RFP release in a classified reading room. This room will also contain information from a number of Government-sponsored efforts and advanced technology initiatives completed on HITS, including a shipboard HITS communication study and experimental collections from land, ship and aircraft platforms demonstrating the technical feasibility of various HITS concepts.
