B -- ACTD TRAINING DUE 111398 POC Ben Riley ONR, OOST (703) 696-0445 An interactive CD-ROM training program for Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD) personnel is being developed by Office of Naval Research in support of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Advanced Technology (DUSD(AT)) and through the efforts of Naval Education and Training, Professional Development and Technology, Center (NETPDTC) Pensacola. To conclude this effort, individuals with prior ACTD experience in either execution or assessment are sought to generate narrative descriptions of processes and topical matters. In particular, these matters are: ACTD Candidate Review, Selection, Implementation Directive, and Approval; Prototype Design & Development, Fabrication, Certification of Interoperability, Test and Design Upgrades; Assessment of military utility; Transition, Residual Support, Interim Capability, and Preparations for Acquisition Decision; ACTD Completion, Final Reporting, and Lessons Learned; Knowledge and understanding of the various classes or categories of ACTDs. ONR seeks assistance from these experienced individuals in the November-December 1998 period to: conduct interviews of active ACTD personnel; generate narrative materials; and work with other individuals similarly engaged to generate a complete, consistent narrative description. Interviews are expected to be in the 2-4 hour range each, with each person likely to be involved in 2-5 interviews. Interviews likely will be with ACTD development managers, ACTD operations managers, and representatives from the staffs of the European, Pacific, Central, Southern and Atlantic Unified Commands operational test, test and evaluation personnel, support staff, as well as the DUSD staff. In addition, it is anticipated that these individuals will be called upon to review the actual training product. These reviews are expected to occur in the March-May 1999 time frame, consisting of 4 review sessions, of 1-2 day duration each. Multiple awards are anticipated in support of the narrative description Training materials, each award thought to be $25,000 or less.
