COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 5,1998 PSA#2216U.S. Geological Survey, Branch Of Acquisition and Federal Assistance,
Box 25046, Denver Federal Center, Denver, CO 80225-0046 66 -- K2 ACCELEROGRAPHS (POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT) DUE 122198 POC
Contracting Officer, Jane L. Conniff, 303-236-5900x334 Concerns having
the ability to provide the following are requested to give written
notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to
the procuring office above within forty-five (45) calendar days from
the date of this synopsis. Salient Characteristics: The USGS has a
requirement for forty (40) Model K2 Accelerographs to be compatible
with seventeen (17) Accelerographs currently owned. Accelerographs must
be of the type that use force balance transducers for strong motion
seismic recording. This instrument must be capable of high resolution
(24 bit output data format -- signed), must have recording velocity
transducers for greatly enhanced dynamic range (greater than 110 dB),
and simultaneous sampling of up to twelve (12) channels of data.
Accelerograph must be 6 channel with internal FBA (2g), 20 Mbyte PC
MCIA Flash Memory Card, Gain Board for channels 4-6, and internal GPS
receiver with 75 ft. cable. FBA must be rugged for field deployment,
and the output must be directly proportional to acceleration. It is
imperative that the Government receive compatibility and comparison of
data supplied by ground motion recordings using one type of recording
system. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance
with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government
considers the item specified as a sole source from Kinemetrics, Inc.,

sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that
they can furnish the required item or its functional equivalent (based
uon the criterian specified herein) are invited to submit in writing
an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response
would include literature, brochures, and such other materials which
correspond to the required items to determine if competitive

for such documents without accompanying information will be considered
non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This
notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this
