bapadilla@lanl.gov, bapadilla@lanl.gov. The University of California
which operates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to
the Department of Energy (DOE)), is seeking an industrial partner to
participate in the maturation and application of a new technology for
extending die lifetime and performance in aluminum casting. Los Alamos
is currently interested in, and developing advanced coating
technologies expressly for the purpose of extending die lifetime and
performance in aluminum casting. The technology being developed is a
unique combination of low-temperature organometallic chemical vapor
deposition and plasma processing. The combined processing enables
engineering of coating properties at an unprecedented level. Industrial
partners are being sought to enter into technology transfer agreement
to develop and commercialize this technology. This may include such
methods as licensing, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements
(CRADAs), Funds-In Agreements, etc., but is not limited to them.
Prospective partners must demonstrate a strong background in aluminum
casting, materials processing and materials science. Interested parties
must also demonstrate product marketing capability and sound financial
backing for this partnership. Any company that is interested in
pursuing this opportunity or that wishes to receive more information
concerning this program should respond with a brief statement
describing the company's technical expertise, manufacturing and
marketing capability, financial resources, previous technology transfer
experience, and motivation for participation in the program. The
statement of interest must be dated within 30 days from the date of
this notice. Posted 11/04/98 (W-SN268415). (0308) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0007 19981106\A-0007.SOL)
