The FAA is seeking contractors with experience in rehabilitation of
occupied space, major electrical work and asbestos removal. Work
includes but is not limited to: 1)Demolition of air handling unit,
ductwork, and associated accessories; 2)Removal of asbestos
containing/contaminated materials or other hazardous materials and
existing light fixtures; 3)Installation of new light fixtures,
extension of existing raised floor system and multi-point grounding;
4)Relocation of and testing of NARACS enclosure; 5)Construction of
gypsum board partition, and 6)Critical power of VTABS, including new
conduit, conductors, transfer switches, panels and other associated
work. Performance time is 120 calendar days with an anticipated start
of April-May 1999. The estimated dollar range is between $100,000 and
$300,000. Contractors interested should request a pre-qualification
Screening Information Request (SIR) application. Requests will be
honored via fax or letter only. No telephone requests will be taken.
Contractorswill be evaluated and only those determined qualified will
be sent the Request for Offer. The SIR is available now. SIR requests
will be taken until close of business 11/13/98. The DOT OSDBU has
programs to assist minority, woman-owned and disadvantaged business
enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding
assistance for DOT related contracts. This is applicable to any
eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance
Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds
up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on
the bond amount to surety against losses. Loans are also available
under the DOT Short Term Lending program at prime interest rates to
provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is
