E-MAIL: Shelley R. Czapkewicz, sczapkew@pica.army.mil. The US Army
TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal seeks sources for the production of
Electronic Fuzes for the Penetration Augmented Munition (PAM), M150.
The PAM is a unique, aggressive design, challenging the state of the
art in demolition and will be utilized by Special Operation Forces
(SOF) to defeat large reinforced bridge piers. The PAM is a multi-stage
munition as follows: a Tandem Forward Charge (TFC) which provides a
pilot hole in the target, a Follow Through Charge (FTC) which buries
itself in the target and then detonates, a Propulsion System which
accelerates the FTC so that it will penetrate to the proper depth in
the target, and an Electronic Fuzing System (SCS) for the initiation of
the FTC propulsion, the FTC, and the TFC using Explosive Foil
Initiators (EFIs). The effort for which we are seeking sources is part
of the Electronic Fuzing System, the SCS2, which is used to initiate
the FTC after it has embedded in the target. The estimated quantity for
SCS2 is 300-400 units. A follow on build for up to 1,100 units is also
possible. Please note that no funding is available for facilitization.
Draft drawings for this effort are available, upon request. However, if
interested in obtaining a copy of the (draft) drawings, the following
forms must be submitted. The forms are DD Form 2345, Militarily
Critical Technical Data Agreement and AMSTA-AR Form 1350, Technical
Data Request Questionnaire. Release of the (draft) drawings is
contingent upon receipt, review and approval of these forms. Sources
should submit information to demonstrate, at a minimum, the following:
a) production capabilities to include machining of aluminum
components, assembly of electronic circuit boards and working with hard
set urethane foam potting compounds; b) expertise in trouble shooting,
failure analysis and corrective action; c) capability in handling,
assembly, storage, testing and safety of explosives and d) a secret
clearance. This is not a Request for Proposals and is not to be
construed as a commitment by the U.S. Army. Please see Numbered Notes
25 and 26. Posted 11/05/98 (D-SN268760). (0309) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0145 19981109\13-0003.SOL)
