rleach@usgs.gov. The U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park, California,
has a requirement for drilling services in the vicinity of Seattle,
Washington, between Mt. Constance and Twin Peaks. The contractor will
be required to drill approximately fifty-seven (57) holes in 35
locations -- 27 holes @ 60', 2 holes @ 65', 8 holes @ 70', 11 holes @
80', 2 holes @ 100', 1 hole @ 140', 2 holes @ 150', and 4 holes @ 170'.
The holes are to be nominal 8" diameter (whether in hard rock or steel
cased). The contractor is required to provide a drill rig, in good
working condition, suitable for this drilling project. The contractor
will be required to provide, deliver and install approximately 1,770
feet of steel casing. The holes are required for a seismic survey.
Drilling is expected to start in late February and shall be completed
by early May, 1999. The material through which the holes are to be
drilled may cover the entire geological spectrum and include
sedimentary rock, both unconsolidated (gravel and sand, i.e., alleuvium
orglacial till) and consolidated; igneous rocks; and metamorphic rocks.
The area of the experiment is underlain by rocks that vary considerably
in hardness. Consequently, the Contractor must be prepared to complete
the required drilling through any formations that may be encountered
within the general geologic description. Issuing date of sol is o/a
December 4, 1998. See Note 1. Posted 11/06/98 (W-SN269461). (0310) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0032 19981110\F-0002.SOL)
