Request for Proposal for the immediate purchase of a commercial demonstrator 4-door, 4-wheel drive fire engine cab and chassis for the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, CA. When mated to an appropriate body (specification BU-14/15-97) will be designated a model #14 fire engine, diesel powered. Manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating to be not less than 31000 lbs. Wheel base not to exceed 154". Cab to center line of rear axle to be 48", clear and clean with no fuel tanks, air tanks or air dryers on inside or outside of frame. Cab to end of frame to be not less than 88". Bare chassis and cab curb weight specified tires to be approx. 10500 lbs. Frame height not to exceed 45" and must not be modified, cut or welded on. Area directly under left rear door to be clear. Axle front -- min. rating 12,000 lbs. Drive axle full floating. Front axle to be equipped with O.E.M. hydraulic power steering. Axle to be O.E.M. approved for this application. Axle rear -- full floating; hypoid or spiral bevel; single reduction, rated not less than 21,000 lbs. Axle ratio to provide for 65 mph at engine governed rpm: "0%" road grade. Cab: 4-door, O.E.M. manufactured, all metal with welded type construction with front fenders and available heavy duty front bumper option. electrical system shall be 12 volts with heavy duty alternator, rated min 200 amps at 14 volts, circuit breaker system protection standard. Engine: electronically controlled, diesel powered, turbocharged, min 250 HP and 660' lbs. of torque. Fuel: 75 gallon minimum. Safety step tanks, under cab, with tanks or tank mounting not to extend rearward past vertical alignment with the back of the cab. Transmission: full automatic, Allison MT-643 series, must be latest in series and with modulator lock-up features incorporated/built-in; external or add-on lines, hoses, controls for "lock-up" not acceptable. Wheels: 6 each size 22.5x8.25 for 11Rx22.5 tires, ventilated, steel disc. tires: 6 each 11Rx22.5 -- load range "G", heavy duty truck and bus. General conditions: the vehicle, attachments and special equipment as listed in the preceding specifications, must be unused, current production items manufactured for adaptation to each other. Warranty: All services and warranty as provided by the manufacturer's published warranty and guarantee for a minimum period of twelve (12) months after unit is placed in field service.
