be mounted at an 80 degree angle in a 4 ft wide by 8 ft high
rectangular channel. Therefore, the screen width, including motor,
drives, or other equipment, can not exceed 47.5 inches at any location
on the lower 9 ft of screen. The traveling screen shall require no
mounting, holding, or fastening to the side walls or floor of channel.
Drive Motor Specifications: One (1) variable speed drive and motor
shall be provided for the traveling screen. The motor shall be rated at
a minimum of 1 HP, 3 phase and 480 Volts. Screen speed shall be
variable from 0.5 ft/m to 7 ft/m. Miscellaneous Metal: Mounting bolts
for all appurtenances that are installed in locations where exposure to
water is likely, shall be manufactured of stainless steel. Performance:
Provisions for screen tension adjustment shall be included. All drive
components shall be designed to withstand the full NEMA stalling torque
of the motor without damage to any part of the drive. The motor shall
be adequately braced to withstand warping due to handling, transport,
and operation. Control box to include hands off automatic switch, delay
timers, starters, fuses and central power transformer 480V-120V, and a
three prong outlet for 120VAC service. Spare fuses shall be furnished
by the Contractor. Contractor shall supply an operation and
maintenance manual for the travel water screen and appurtenances to the
engineer. Lubrication of traveling water screen and appurtenances must
be able to be accomplished without polluting water. Frame Side Rails:

Chain Support: Chain support shall be 2-in X 2-in X -in angle and shall
have all contact surfaces covered with ultra high molecular weight
polyethylene. Wire Belt: Two wire belts shall be supplied with the
screen. The first belt shall be stainless steel 4.8-2.4-12 (2.5 inch
width opening, 4.8 openings per foot horizontal, 5 inch height of
opening, 2.4 openings per foot vertical, and constructed of 12 gauge
material). The second belt/screen shall be stainless steel 4-2-12 (3
inch width opening, 4 openings per foot horizontal, 6 inch height of
opening, 2 openings per foot vertical, and constructed of 12 gauge
material). Both belts/screens shall be standard balanced as
manufactured by Alloy Wire Belt or approved equivalent. Supports for
belting shall be 5/16 in diameter stainless steel rod supported at each
end and located at 6-in intervals in wire belting. Debris Pickup Bars:
Debris pickup bars shall be 2-in X 2-in X -in stainless steel angle
and shall be installed parallel to the 5/16 in diameter support rods.
Drive Chain: The main drive chains shall be stainless steel 2060 with
5/16 in holes in side plates. Screen Cleaning System: The debris
removal system shall consist of two horizontally mounted spray wash
bars mounted internal to the screen and a counter rotating brush
mounted on the back of the screen. Screen wash system to be supplied
with unit from existing pressurized water supply. Solenoid valve shall
be installed and controlled by screen controller. Valve shall allow
pressurized water to be supplied to the screen upon motor startup.
Water supply to the screen shall be filtered water or absent of any

by contractor. The spray wash line shall include ball valve for
adjustment of flow rate to the spray nozzles. Debris Removal System: A
conveyor type debris removal system shall be provided that collects
debris washed off the screen and carries it to a location 3 ft above
the screen and 3 ft horizontal to the screen edge. The debris conveyor
system shall move debris to the right of the screen looking
downstream. The conveyor system shall have smooth vertical walls at
least 1 ft high adjacent to the conveyor belt to prevent debris from
prematurely falling from the conveyor system. The debris removal system
(conveyor) shall include variable speed motor drive and all associated
equipment required to transport debris to the dump location. Concerns
having the ability to furnish the item described herein are requested
to give written notification and pricing data via fax (303)445-6345 or
E-Mail -- d7810@do.usbr.gov/ no later than November 17, 1998. Responses
