COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 17,1998 PSA#2223A -- SUBMARINE PAYLOADS PROGRAM BRIEFING TO INDUSTRY Special Notice
99-03, (Technical POC: CDR John J. Polcari, USN, DARPA/TTO; Contractual
POC: Mr. Alan Frederick, DARPA/CMD). The Program Manager for the
Program to Investigate Payloads and Sensors for the Submarine of the
Future ("Submarine Payloads Program") will host a daylong, unclassified
review of the Submarine Payloads Program for interested representatives
of Government and industry on Thursday, 10 December 1998. The briefing
will be held at the Hilton Crystal City at National Airport, 2399
Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA, starting at 8:30a.m. The
Submarine Payloads Program, funded jointly by DARPA and the Navy, will
investigate advanced payloads and sensor systems for the attack
submarine of the future. The implications for platform design that flow
from these advanced concepts will be part of this investigation. The
intent of this effort is to enable a revolutionary expansion of
capabilities that will allow the submarine to play a more decisive role
in future conflicts, including exerting greater influence over events
ashore. The program will be conducted over an 18-month period by two or
more competing teams selected from proposals received in response to a
forthcoming solicitation. Each successful offering team will be
awarded an Agreement worth about $5 million per team under the
authority of 10 U.S.C. 2371, Section 845, as amended. The intent of the
industry briefing is to introduce the Program Manager and members of
the program staff, specify appropriate channels for communicating with
the program, and review the program's history, objectives, current
status, schedule, funding, and business structure. The Program Manager
will take questions, and encourages input from industry on the
Submarine Payloads Program schedule and the structure of the
forthcoming solicitation for proposals. Organizations wishing to send
representatives should submit attendance requests via e-mail
(preferred), by fax or in writing to Syntek Technologies, Inc., Attn:
