R -- WEATHER OBSERVATION SERVICES FOR THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SOL 51WCNW906022JAS DUE 010599 POC Jackie Shewmaker 816-426-7129, ext. 221 The National Weather Service (NWS) plans to issue a solicitation to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS, and evaluate the representativeness of ASOS, for the NWS office located at International Falls, MN. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS cooperators to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS on a continuous bases, 24-hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that are beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consists of evaluating reporting data normally evaluated reported by ASOS. The anticipated performance period is February 1, 1999 through September 30, 1999, with two twelve month option periods. Solicitations will be issued on or about December 4, 1998.
