COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 19,1998 PSA#2225CORRECTIONAL SERVICES This is a Special Notice to notify interested
parties that the Bureau of Prisons is conducting market research to
determine the feasibility of housing approximately 7,500 low security
sentenced criminal aliens in locations along the southern border of the
United States. Reference CBD W-288 SN262524 published about October 15,
1998. As part of the market research, the BOP will conduct Industry
Interchange Meetings (IIM) with industry representatives and other
interested parties. The purpose of the IIMs is to share information,
views, and opinions on housing this population in contractor-owned/
contractor-operated facilities should the BOP pursue this privatization
initiative. Possible items of discussion are: contract terms and
conditions; past performance and experience; industry standards; inmate
programming; facility factors such as site acquisition, construction or
renovation; oral presentations; and use of multi-media technology as
part of the proposal process. The meetings shall not be conducted as an
opportunity to market individual company capabilities. These meetings
will be conducted in Washington, D.C., Monday through Friday, January
4-15, 1999, Each will be of two-hour duration from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00
A.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. every day. Industry attendees are
limited to five representatives. Appointments are on a first-come,
