Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract utilizing Simplified Acquisition procedures under the authority of FAR Part 13 with Exide Electronics, 15941 Red Hill Avenue, Suite 100-B, Tustin, California 92680; for 180 batteries type DDV85-25, under a pro-rated 20 year warranty. The batteries were installed in 1993. The batteries are UPS battery modules (180 cells) @ 8 volts/module with the following salient characteristics: 1. Nominal amphour capacity=1020 Ahr/cell. 2. Battery arrangement shall be such that the modules are stacked only one module high in a long series arrangement. All parts and materials shall be provided for this arrangement. 3. Modular battery system shall be designed with steel modules and four separate cell compartments per module (@ 8 volts/module). 4. Internally each cell shall not have any free electrolyte, but shall be composed of an absorbed recombinant design utilizing lead-calcium plates without a cadmium (Cd) component. 5. Safety shields shall be designed of a non-conductive material and sized to cover the front of each battery module. 6. Each module shall have a pressure relief valve which shall be constructed to prevent acid leakage and oxidation. A long term commercial battery warranty is required. The weight of the batteries must be evaluated as there is a load limit consideration. No Request for Quotation will be issued, however vendors with the capability of fulfilling this requirement may submit a proposal with pricing to be considered by the Government no later than 15 days from the published date of this announcement to the Bureau of Reclamation, P.O.
