The spectrometer must be compact, easily fieldable and robust, insensitive to shock and vibration, and must experience no degradation in performance when operated at elevation angles greater than + or -- 30 degrees. It will be capable of operating from the mid wave IR spectral region to the long wave IR spectral region (from 0.8 to 20 microns), and will have the capability to simultaneously acquire both near IR and MWIR spectra.
