COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 20,1998 PSA#2226Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, 345 Middlefield
Road,Mail Stop 285, Menlo Park, CA 94025-3591 B -- GEOLOGIC/GEOPHYSICAL MAPS USING GEOGRAPHIX SOFTWARE SOL
99WRQQ0009 DUE 112398 POC Sonya Baird (650) 329-4168 or fax (650)
329-5480 U. S. Geological Survey intends to negotiate and award a
contract to Michelle Killgore, 3121 Granada Ave. #43, Santa Clara, CA
95051 to accomplish the following services. The North Alaska Petroleum
Studies Project requires a series of geologic, geophysical, and
specialty contour maps using Geographix geographic information system
(the GES module) and instruction in the use of the GES module and the
well-log analysis module, PRIZM. These maps, based on a 3 X 6 mile
seismic grid and about 80 wells, are required for petroleum baseline
geologic studies of the National Petroleum Reserves in Alaska (NPRA)
and nearby areas that will provide the technical foundation for new
assessments of the region's oil and gas potential. Using USGS data
bases and coverages prepared and entered by USGS personnel (such as
coastline, township and range, well locations, and drainage), the
project requires the creation of various structure contour and isopach
maps, specialized geologic or geophysical contour maps. Contractor
will instruct USGS personnel in EarthVision sotware in concert with
Geographix. Contractor will investigate the utility of using
EarthVision software to display and analyze seismic-serived data from
Geographix output. Map coverages will include shot-point locations.
Maps will be portrayed in terms of travel time and thickness of feet.
Creation of each isopach map will first require the generation of a
separate velocity map. Contractor will use Geographix to generate a
series of contour maps of selected geochemical, thermal maturity, or
other geophysical characteristics within the National Petroluem Reserve
in Alaska (NPRA). Work also involves the exchange of files between
Geographix and ARC/INFO. and training USGS employees . Contractor must
possess expertise in geology, experience in petroleum geology, and
required software. Contractor must be proficient in use of MAC, PC
equipment, and HP 650C color plotters, network/file servers, the
internet, Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excell. Performance is on site
at U. S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, CA. Estimated award date is
27 November 1998. Period of Performance is 1 December 1998 through 30
September 1999. All responsible offers may submit an offer which shall
be considered. Responses may be mailed to U. S. Geological Survey,
Office of Acquisition & Federal Assistance, MS-285, 345 Middlefield
Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025-3591. Note 1 applies. Posted 11/18/98
