requesting industry information for airfield lightning protection and
surge suppression equipment. This agency is conducting a Market Survey
(Sources Sought Synopsis), requesting that information. This is a
Request for Information (RFI) ONLY. It is not a Request for Proposal
(or solicitation) or an indication that a contract will exist for this
equipment. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE
BASIS OF THEIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE
INFORMATION SOLICITED. The purpose of this market research is to decide
if lightning protection and surge suppression devices for various
airfield systems/facilities are commercially available. This
acquisition includes providing all equipment, labor, transportation,
and installation necessary to provide for more robust protection for
the ATC tower radar indicator equipment, Instrument Landing System Far
Field Monitor, Laser Beam Ceilometer, weather indicators in the base
weather station, weather indicators in ATC tower, Ground-to-Air
Transmit and Receive radio site, and ATC communication systems. Each
facility/system requires protection devices on communication, power,

electrical surges before they damage the respective equipment. Devices
must continue to operate and only sacrifice itself in case of
catastrophic electrical surges. Firms who wish to respond to this
Request for Information are asked to send information regarding (1)

products that meet the stated criteria and related pricing; (3) list of
contract vehicles; e.g. GSA Schedule Contract; currently in place that

and provide past performance information relevant to government and
commercial customer capable of providing reference data. This agency
will review respondent packages and may contact selected firms for
face-to-face discussions. As industry may expect to see portions of
submitted information in future solicitations, no proprietary
information may be submitted. Responses must also include their
business size and state that the contractor is not on the GSA Parties
Excluded from Procurement Programs. The deadline for submissions is
December 31, 1998. The Point of Contact for additional information will
