consists of the construction of a new NGIC facility of 23,953 gross
square meters. The site for the new facility is a parcel of land
located approximately 10 miles north of the city of Charlottesville,
VA. The parcel is approximately 29 acres in area (11.7 hectares). Main
access to the site is off Rte 29. The NGIC is three stories high on
the parking area side and five stories high on the back (river) side.
Of the occupiable space, approximately 50% is allotted to office
environment and the remainder is divided between special and support
spaces which include: Laboratories, Auditorium, Cafeteria/ Dining
Facility, Fitness Center, Automated Data Processing Center, Visual
Information Lab, Central Security Monitoring station, Information
Resource Center, JWICS Teleconferencing Center, and a number of Special
Access Rooms and Conference/Training areas. In addition, there are
other operations such as: Storage facilities, Mailrooms, Receiving,
Loading, Trash, and Recycling area, and Building Management and
Maintenance offices. There are both secure (SCIF) and non-secure
(non-SCIF) areas/offices within NGIC. Site work consists of site
preparation, earthwork, rock removal, water distribution, sanitary
sewerage, fuel oil distribution, pipe culverts subdrainage, storm
drainage, bituminous concrete pavement, Portland cement concrete
improvements, irrigation system, lighting bollards, landscaping, etc.
The project includes reinforced concrete, cast-in-place concrete, and
precast concrete; concrete masonry assemblies, reinforce concrete
masonry units assemblies, and stone countertops and vanities;
structural steel, steel joists, steel floor and roof deck, load bearing
steel studs, metal fabrications, stairs, ladders, handrails and
railings; rough carpentry finish carpentry, architectural woodwork,
laminate-clad wood cabinets, and solid polymer fabrications; bituminous
dampproofing, sheet waterproofing, building insulation, metal rood
panels, EPDM single-ply membrane roofing, modified bituminous membrane
roofing,sheet metal flashing and trim, sprayed fireproofing,
firestopping,and joint sealants; metal doors and frames, interior
aluminum door frames, wood and plastic doors, access doors and panels,
valut door and accessories, overhead coiling doors, door hardware,
glazing, security glazing, mirrors, and glazed aluminum curtain walls
and entrances; gypsum board, tile, acoustical ceilings, metal ceilings
and soffits, stone flooring and paving, resilient flooring, chemical
resistant flooring, sheet carpet, carpet tile, fabric coated acoustical
wall panels, vinyl wall covering, paints, etc.; specialty items,
including wall louvers, access flooring, flagpoles, exterior and
interior signage, fire extinguishers and accessories, etc.; lightning
protection, security systems, integrated intrusion detection/access
control/badging system, turnstile and gates, intercoms, closed circuit
television system, alarm systems, vehicle barriers and controls,
backup power supply/charger, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), power
and signal conduit and wiring, cabinets and enclosures, racks and
consoles, multiplex/ addressable fire alarm systems, computer rooms
fire alarm systems, fire-suppression piping, electric drive horizontal
fire pumps; and electric traction personnel and freight elevators plus
refuse chutes. The project also consists of motors, variable frequency
drives, hangers and supports, mechanical vibration controls,
mechanical identification, duct and equipment and pipe insulation,
valves, pipe expansion fittings and loops, meters and gages, domestic
water piping, sanitary waste and vent piping, hydronic piping and
pumps, natural gas piping, plumbing fixtures and specialties, sump
pumps, fuel-fired water heaters, fire-tube boilers, water treatment
equipment, breechings and chimneys and stacks, centrifugal water
chillers, packaged cooling towers, heat exchangers, air-handling units,
computer room air-conditioning units, fan-coil units, finned tube
radiation, unit heaters, heat tracing cable, metal ducts, duct
accessories, fans, air terminals, diffusers and registers and grilles,
air filters, HVAC instrumentation, sequence of operation and building
automation software, plus testing and adjusting and balancing. Also,
consists of grounding and bonding, electrical identification,
conductors and cables, raceways and boxes, raised floor power
distribution, cable trays, wiring devices, packaged engine generator
systems, transient voltage suppression, disconnect switches and circuit
breakers, transfer switches, enclosed controllers, ground-fault
protection, switchgear, low voltage generator paralleling and control
switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, motor-control centers, enclosed
bus assemblies, general purpose dry-type transformers, fuses, interior
lighting, premises distribution systems, and secure telephone premises
