SEEKING INDUSTRIAL PARTNERS TO DEVELOP PORTABLE GAS CHROMATOGRAPH-MASS
SPECTROMETER SYSTEM (GC-MS) This is not procurement. LLNL funding is
not available to fund any corporate effort. Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under the
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial
partners to commercialize technology for manufacturing a 55-lb,
man-portable, field-deployable gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer
(GC-MS) for on-site analysis of unknown chemicals in environmental,
industrial, civilian, or military scenarios. The system is preferably
integrated to the HP 5973 quadruple mass selective detector (MSD) and
HP e-module box. One customized carrying case will house the entire
GC-MS system, of which all components therein will be modular and
accessible for ease of serviceability. The hand-portable GC-MS has many
worldwide applications to forensics, as well as for chemical weapons
monitoring, HAZMAT, EPA, military (i.e., high explosive and propellant
analysis), FDA, FBI, DEA, international treaty verification,
Cal-Trans, Cal OSHA, universities and private enterprise. The
partnership will be coordinated through the LLNL Industrial
Partnerships and Commercialization Office using a Cooperative Research
and Development Agreement (CRADA). Interested companies must respond
in writing to LLNL within thirty days of this announcement by providing
the following information: (1) the name and address of your
organization and the name, address, telephone and facsimile numbers of
the point of contact; (2) the type of business, product and financial
history of your company; (3) a description of your company's expertise
and facilities in the area of manufacture of mass spectrometry; (4)
corporate history of R&D funding; (5) the financial resources your
company would commit to this collaborative project. Please respond in
writing to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Industrial
Partnerships and Commercialization. Attn: CBD99-002, P.O. Box 808,
