COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 30,1998 PSA#2231RADAR/ELECTRONIC WARFARE CONFERENCE Recognizing the continuing need for
improved exchanges of technical information between Radar and EW
engineers, the AOC will sponsor the Fourth Radar/Electronic Warfare
Conference on December 8-9, 1998 at John Hopkins University, Applied
Physics Laboratory, Laurel, Maryland. The classification of the
conference will be SECRET, U.S. ONLY. The conference will address
Radar, ECM (both ES and EA), and ECCM for land, air and sea platforms.
Both systems and techniques will be addressed. Dr. Gerard Trunk,
Superintendent of the Radar Division of the Naval Research Laboratory
is the conference chairman. Dr. Eli Brookner, Raytheon Corporation,
will be the keynote speaker and his topic will be Space-Based Radar for
the Next Millennium. The conference has four sessions. Session one will
address Wide Area Surveillance, which includes briefings on Joint STARS
Radar Technology Insertion Program (RTIP); AWACS in Wide Area
Surveillance; Radar in Space Surveillance; HF Radar ECCM and Ship
Identification and Tracking viaSEL. Session two will address Systems
with papers on: ECCM features of AN/SPY-1; AN/SPY-1 developments in
support of Navy TBMD; APS-137; Advanced Multifunctional RF Systems
PATRIOT ground radar ECCM and PATRIOT Advanced Capability 3 Interceptor
ECCM. Session three will focus on techniques with briefings covering:
Periscope Detection and Discrimination; Advanced SAR Technologies;
Counter CCD with Foliage Penetration SAR; Space Time Adaptive
Processing; TBMD Discrimination Fidelity, Anti-Ship Missile
Simulations; the AN/SLY-2, Advanced Integrated EW System; Airborne CM;
ECCM Development to Mitigate Effects of Jamming on Synthetic Aperture
Radar. The conference is designed to inform the EW community of the
latest radar and radar-ECCM developments and to provide the radar
community with recent trends in electronic warfare. The purpose of this
conference will be to provide up-to-date technical presentations
designed to cover recent developments in radar of interest to the EW
community, as well as EW methods directed towards degrading radar
performance and the radar response to EW measures. As with previous
radar conferences, this forum is designed to enhance better
communications between the radar and EW communities. The conference is
considered one of the most comprehensive technical forums addressing
important and far-reaching issues regarding radar and EW. It is a "must
attend" for both government and industry personnel engaged in both
radar and EW activities to ensure they have current information
regarding present and future issues, technologies and programs. For
