94550 A -- LLNL SEEKS PARTNERS FOR PORTABLE RADIATION DETECTOR SOL CBD99-003
DUE 123098 POC Kevin O'Brien, obrien14@llnl.gov The Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory (LLNL) operated by The University of California,
under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking
companies interested in partnering with LLNL for the purpose of
commercializing the Portable Radiation Detector. The Portable Radiation
Detector contains an electromechanically cooled high purity germanium
detector. The units have been deployed in the field and operating since
April of 1997. Portability is one of the key benefits to the Portable
Radiation Detector. It provides continuous, unattended operation. The
unit is battery operated and has a unique active vibration damping that
reduces mechanical vibration. It does not require the use of Liquid
Nitrogen, while offering a longer life-time than other designs. The
purpose of this announcement is to provide an opportunity for
industrial partners to utilize and commercialize the system. All
projects are conducted under policies of strict non-disclosure of
company proprietary information. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. If
you are interested in working with LLNL on the Portable Radiation
Detector, please respond in writing within 30 days of this
announcement. Contact: Kevin O'Brien at obrien14@llnl.gov. List the
subject as Partnering for Portable Radiation Detector. Posted 11/30/98
