ctramos@lanl.gov E-MAIL: ctramos@lanl.gov, ctramos@lanl.gov. The
University of California, which operates Los Alamos National Laboratory
(LANL) under contract to the Department of Energy, solicits interest
from companies wishing to collaborate, develop, and then market a high
dynamic range, high speed digitizer system. The desired
characteristics of this system include a one-shot sample rate of 500
Megasamples/second (minimum of 400 Megasamples/second) with an analog
bandwidth of 150 MHz, a dynamic range of 12 bits (minimum of 10 bits),
1 Megabyte of 12 bit word memory, and multiple record capability on
sequential triggers. One channel with a external trigger input is
needed. Size and weight are not overly critical (obviously, the smaller
the better), and commercial environmental specifications are
acceptable. This system should be capable of stand alone operation with
a GPIB or RS232 for PC interface, or, if possible, be designed as a
plug in to a PC. Those companies interested in pursuing this
opportunity should respond with a Letter of Interest that they satisfy
the minimum criteria. The interested parties must possess, or have
access to existing capabilities in research, development, marketing and
support services in the domestic marketplace, preferably related to
this technology. The collaborative partner will be selected based on a
demonstrated expertise in a multitude of areas. The technical
expertise and experience in the field of high-speed digitizers will be
foremost in choosing a partner. The practical engineering of products
along with proven reliability record will be considered. The selected
company should be a recognized world leader in high speed digital
products, with a proven track record of providing quality, flexible
products. Previous experience with R&D project within the DOE complex
is desirable. The company must have flexibility for accommodating
changing parameters as the system is refined. Any interested
organization selected as a partner will be expected to work under a
Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) or a Funds-In
Agreement (FIA) to continue the development of this technology and
adaptations to other applications. The Letter of Interest must be
received by close of business (5pm MST) December 16, 1998. Posted
