Service-Washington on behalf of the International Commemoration
Committee, intends to issue a Request of Quote (RFQ). The Solicitation
number is DASW01-99-Q-0142. The requirement is for Made in the USA 3/4
in. lapel pins, quantity 200,000, material is red brass with copper
content of 84.0.86.0 balance zinc. Attaching device is prong with pick,
.312 or .375 in length with a clutch fastner. The prong will be
attached by means of hard solder or electronically fused to the center
of the insignia. The insignia shall be expoied with an epoxy resin
suitable for stoning and shall have a shore D hardness of 85 and
incorporate an ultraviolet inhibitor. The colors shall match the TIOH
chips #1, #20, #28, #30 and the medium blue shall match the color
Reflex Blue according to the Standard Pantone Color Guide. The insignia
shall be highly polished and plated with a 24kt gold color and should
match TIOH finished chip #6. This reference construction and finishing
criteria are from MIL-L-1148Fm Supplement 1, 27 June 1988, Lapel
Button, General Specifications approved by all Departments and Agencies
of DoD. Packaging-Each lapel pin shall be individually poly bagged, and
bulk packed in bags of 10 or 20 pieces. A production sample must be
provided and approved prior to the final production of the lapel pins.
