D -- WEB ENABLED DROLS/VERITY TOPICSETS SOL SP4700-99-R12-0002 DUE 121898 POC Ann Burley (703) 767-1182 The Defense Technical Information Center has a requirement to design and implement "search hierarchy" and "hierarchy browsig" features for the both the DTIC Thesaurus and the DTIC Corporate Source Authority List in the Web Enabled DROLS application using Verity's Search 97 TopicSet capability. A demonstration of the resulting system, including the ability to browse the 2 hierarchies to expose the relationships between terms and to have the terms exploded as part of a Verity search strategy execution, is required to successfully complete the task. The contractor shall work with the Government to further define system, functional, and performance requirements for: Implementation of the 2 TopicSets, Implementation of the TopicSet browing capability, and Integration into the then current Web Enabled DROLS system. After the above requirements are accepted by DTIC, the contractor will develop the two TopicSets, install them on the DTIC hardware, and demonstrate the required functionality. A copy of the DROLS Handbook (DTICH 4185.4) will be provided for this purpose. The browsing capability is not available in the current system. During the course of this effort, the Government will provide ASCII text files containing complete copies of both data sets to the contractor. The contractor will develop custom utilities to convert these files into Verity TopicSets. These utilities will be provided to the Government as source code and with appropriate documentation. DTIC personnel will be trained by the contractor on how to use these utilities. At the completion of this effort, the Government personnel assigned to this efforr will be certified by the contractor as knowledgeable in the maintenance of both the utilities and the TopicSets such that DTIC is able to continue to refine and maintain the TopicSets with in-house resources.
