(703) 875-6019 The Department of State intends to conduct competition
between selected 8(a) companies for the purpose of awarding a contract
for facility rehabilitation, repair, and maintenance support services,
including fire protection equipment and upgrading of fire protection
capabilities, at locations outside of the United States. These
facilities include embassies and consulates. The contractor staff
dedicated to this project will occupy a government furnished building
in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. This will be a time and
materials contract for one year plus four option years. The successful
contractor must have or be able to have a government approved
purchasing system, an approved facility clearance of top secret and
personnel dedicated to this program cleared or be able to be cleared
above the secret level. All of these requirements must be met prior to
contract award. Teaming is encouraged and authorized, however team
members must be clearly identified and must conform to the requirements
of this presoliciation notice. The SIC code is 8744, Base Maintenance,
size standard $20 million. A pre proposal conference is anticipated
and respondents to this sources sought will be notified of the location
and time. Costs for attendance at this conference will be borne by the
respondent. Anticipated solication release date is January, 1999.

office not later than ten days prior to the required response date for

should include as a minimum, experience on similar projects of this
magnitude, ability to provide personnel required, business size and
classification (no large businesses please), current corporate and
personnel clearances, if any, and projected date of graduation from the
8(a) program. This market research information will be used to
determine the Department's course of action. Response to this synopsis
will not entitle firms to submit a proposal in response to a formal
solicitation or request for quotations. Respondents to this sources
sought must notify the Department of State of their intent to
participate not later than 30 December 1998. Telephone responses are
