http://heron.nrl.navy.mil/contracts/home.htm. 66-The Naval Research
Laboratory (NRL) has a requirement for an advanced laser scanning
confocal microscope system. The system is required to image in one or
more z-axis planes to allow three dimensional reconstruction of thick
(> 50 micron) samples. This system is required to have ultraviolet
excitation (or be capable of being upgraded to have ultraviolet
excitation), inverted imaging, and be capable of performing digital
reconstructions. The instrument must also be capable of imaging a
common range of visible spectrum flurophores, capable of ultraviolet
excitation of fluorophores in confocal imaging mode, capable of
acquiring simultaineous confocal images of at least two fluorophores
and allowing for digital ratiometric combination of these images, and
be capable of confocal imaging in both reflectance and fluorescence
modes. The instrument should have maximum adjustability toward the true
spectra of a wide variety of existing and newly developed fluorophores
in the ultraviolet and visible spectrum, and be capable of being
upgraded to two-photon (picosecond) excitation using infrared pulses
for nondestructive imaging of biological samples. This system must be
compatible with an existing Leica inverted microscope. The equipment
shall consist of the confocal microscope, objective lens, spectral
confocal scanner system, pin hole optics with a 3 laser configuration
and related computer controlled hardware and software. It is NRL's
intent to make an award from this solicitation using the commercial
item procedures of FAR Part 12. NRL uses Electronic Commerce (EC) to
issue RFPs and amendments to RFPs. This solicitation and any amendments
to it will be available via the internet at the URL address shown
below. Paper copies of the RFP will not be provided. 18. LINKURL:
