Officer (919) 541-3699. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina is responsible for procuring,
testing, and distributing teflon filters of high purity to the
State/local air pollution control agencies. The Teflon filters are used
with a dichotomous sampler base to collect PM-10 (particulate matter
with an aerodynamic diameter less than or equal to a nominal 10
micrometers) samples. This process assures filters with uniform
characteristics and known quality assurance testing for the national
particulate networks. EPA has a need to purchase of 33,167 37mm Teflon
Filters. The following criteria applies: Telfon filter selection and
testing of 350, 37mm Telflon Filters. Filters will undergo acceptance
testing to assure that they meet EPA's specifications for physical and
chemical properties. The following test methods shall be used by the
contractor to check the filters: American Society of Testing Methods
(ASTM) Method D64592 (standard test Method for Thickness of Paper and
Paperboard), ASTM Method D828-93 (tensile Properties of Paper and
Paperboard Using constant-Rate-of-Elongation Apparatus with Attachment
for use on HI-Vol Filters), Filter Flow Rate Acceptance Test
Procedure, Atmospheric Research and Exposure Assessment Laboratory
(AREAL) Visual Inspection Test for filters, ASTM Method D2986-91
(Standard Practice for Evaluation of Air Assay Media by the
Monodisperse DOP (Dioctyl Phthalate Smoke Test). The SIC code is 3829.
It is anticipated that the request for quotation (RFQ) will be issued
on or around December 21, 1998 and that quotations will be expected 10
days after issuance. This RFQ will be carried out under Simplified
Acquisition Procedures. The period of performance shall be as follows:
Delivery required 60 days after date of award. Acceptance of filters
will be 90 days after delivery. All interested parties may obtain a
