Concerns having the ability to furnish the services described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 45 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) and USGS-BRD are cooperators in a joint research project titled: Evaluation of the efficacy of Brucella abortus Strain 19 vaccine in elk calves. The Idaho Department of Fish and game and the USGS-BRD have a vested interest in understanding the Brucella abortus Strain 19 vaccine in the elk. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will also be conducting test for Tuberculosis in the elk. The contractor shall provide this service in Caldwell Idaho. The contractor shall provide animal care, husbandry, feeding and holding pens for 80-90 female elk for the duration of the project. The contractor shall provide adequate food, water, and minerals to maintain adequate body condition and weight. Feed will include ad-libitum hay, water and trace mineral salt blocks. The contractor shall clean holding pens on a routine basis and provide clean bedding materials. The initial period of performance is for 2 years with 1 year option. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c) (1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the item service specified as a sole source from Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Wildlife Health Center, 16569 South 19th. Caldwell, ID 83606, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required item or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials which correspond to the required competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration.
