Sozanski, Contracting Officer, Telephone 617/495-7376, FAX 617/496-7992, or email: psozanski@cfa.harvard.edu The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) requires the fabrication and delivery of four (4) optical mounts, which will house four of the various segments of the optics of a bench spectrograph system. Three of the mounts include a cylindrical bezel of outside diameter 26 inch to 46 inch, with depths of 5 inch to 8 inch and thickness of under 1 inch. Each bezel is attached to a base assembly of approximately 24 inch x 42 inch x 30 inch to 40 inch. The fourth mount consists of flat plate stock of 1/8 inch to 3/4 inch thick with envelope approximately 30 inch x 27 inch x 47 inch. All structures are assembled together by use of mechanical fasteners as well as welding operations. Majority of the components are of 400 series Stainless Steel while a small segment of parts are of Invar, Titanium and Aluminum. A few precision alignment surfaces have requirements of +/- 0.001 inch dimensional tolerances. The completed mounts weigh from 350 lbs. to 900 lbs. Delivery is required within 6 months ARO.
