17 -- REDESIGN OF TARGETING FORWARD LOOKING INFRARED (TFLIR) HOIST BEAMS SOL N68335-99-R-0079 DUE 122498 POC Michael J. Markle 732-323-7339 Peculiar Support Equipment (PSE) for the F/A-18 aircraft consisting of the following items: redesign of (3) Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (TFLIR) Hoist Beams (P/N 74D750507-1001) to accommodate the F/A-18E/F configuration of the Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR)while maintaining the capability to install and remove (I/R) the AN/AAS-46 TFLIR from an F/A-18E/F aircraft; and redesign of (3) TFLIR Hoist Beams (P/N 74D750031-1001) to accomodate the F/A-18C/D configuration of the ATFLIR while maintaining the capability to I/R the AN/AAS-38 TFLIR from an F/A-18C/D aircraft. Additionally, technical services will be required to ensure that the PSE is in a Ready for Issue condition for the entire duration of the F/A-18 Operations Evaluation (OPEVAL) scheduled for November 1999. The contractor must be familiar with the F/A-18, the equipment (TFLIR), the work to be performed and the compatability of this equipment to other systems on the aircraft. McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a Divisionof the Boeing Company, St. Louis, MO, as the designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the F/A-18 aircraft is the only firm that possesses the necessary technical knowledge and proprietary source data with regard to design, operations, maintenance and systems integration requirements of the PSE to meet the Government's OPEVAL date of November 1999. Firms that recognize and produce the required item are encouraged to identify themselves. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which may be considered by the Government in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
