SMDC-CM-CN, (256)955-1187 The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense
Command intends to enter in a non-competitive contract with The
National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA), The University of
Mississippi, to conduct three (3) major efforts. (1) Infrasound
Monitoring Systems for the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Office; (2)
Study of Acoustic Parametric Atmospheric Arrays; and (3) Acoustic
Sensors for Treaty Verification Applications. During the base contract,
this R&D effort will involve a preliminary analysis for the NCPA to
deploy the initial infrasound monitoring system (IMS). Each option will
continue these efforts to gain maximum efficiency through improvements
to the long range infrasound propagation and develop a system to
acquire meteorological data worldwide from existing stations, and
automatically feed the codes developed in the first phase of the
contract. This action will consist of a base effort and four (4) 1-year
