A -- BEAM CONTROL TECHNOLOGY MATURATION USING HIGH ENERGY LASER (HEL) BEAM SIMULATOR SOL F04701-98-R-0020 DUE 012599 POC Point of Contact: Capt Mark A. The Space-Based Laser (SBL) Program Management Office (PMO) intends to award a sole source contract to the Lockheed Martin Corporation for follow-on efforts stemming from the current Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) Zenith Star -- Alpha Lamp Integration (ALI) contract (SDIO84-89-C-0003). The follow-on effort requires continued beam control testing at the Capistrano Test Site (CTS) and the completion of the design, fabrication, testing and integration of a High Energy Laser (HEL) Beam Simulator. This contract will also include Government directed studies to further enhance beam control performance for the SBL. The SBL PMO intends to award this effort in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and supplements thereto, to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, Sunnyvale, CA. The ALI effort was conducted by Lockheed Martin's Astronautics Division under the BMDO contract but has since been transitioned to the Missiles and Space Division. This award will be in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 (10 U.S.C 2304(c)(1)) which authorizes award to only one responsible source based upon a determination that award to any other source would cause unacceptable delays to the Space Based Laser project. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 3761, and the size standard is 1,000 employees.
