The Defense Threat Reduction Agency intends to award a sole source
modification to Maxwell Physics International (MPI) for an increase in
computational support to the DTRA Plasma Opening Switch and Plasma
Radiation Source R&D programs. Specifically, MPI will augment work
currently being performed under DSWA01-97-C-0167. The objectives are to
document and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of key POS and power
flow modeling codes, and to investigate possible improvements in
existing cosdes that will enable them to do better modeling to resolve
physics problems. Currently, MPI is the incumbent on DSWA01-97-C-0167
and possesses the knowledge and expertise to perform the tasks
required in a reasonable cost and time. This notice of intent is not a
request for competitive proposals. Contractors capable of offering
their service must respond within 15 days of the date of this notice by
submitting specific technical capability to provide this service. All
responses received within 15 days after publications of this synopsis
will be considered by the government solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. SEE Note 22.
