MRI SITE PREPARATION AND INSTALLATION The VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle Division, Seattle, Washington intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Philip Medical Systems, 4174 Lind Avenue SW, Renton Washington to provide complete technical design, structural analysis and coordination for site preparation and installation for a newly acquired MRI. The MRI replacement requires significant coordination and technical expertise due to the highly specialized work involved and the location of the MRI building, which is approximately 35 feet above grade, at this Medical Center. The scope of this project consists of providing all necessary electrical conduit and wiring to provide a fully operational MRI magnet and associated equipment, including cutting through steel plates for required cabling; complete rigging, crane and operator for removal of existing magnet, placement of new magnet and lifting of all associated equipment which is to be placed in the building or on the rooftop; repair of the PVC membrane roofing after removal and installation of equipment; provide and install complete RF shielding within the tolerances allowable by the equipment manufacturer; and replacement of existing HVAC cooling systems with a dual 5 ton split system, including programing to the Energy Management Control System. Sources who believe they are capable of providing these services must supply written documentation proving their capabilities to respond to this requirement on or before December 28, 1998, 12:00 pm PST. A determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
