The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center is conducting market research, with the intention of issuing a solicitation in the near future, for companies that have the capability to construct new, steel, ISO compatible containers. . The containers consist of the following types and quantities: (1) 20 End Opening-20 each; (2) 20 Full Access (Side and End Opening)-20 each; (3) 40 Open Top-20 each; and (4) 20 Mobile Diesel Power Station (20KW)-2 each. Note that 11 of the 20 Full Access containers require special construction; ten (10) containers shall be constructed with a tween deck member at 31 (to the top of the deck) below container overhead and one (1) container shall be constructed with two tween decks. The Government desires delivery of all containers by March 31, 1999.
