(708) 786-7659 VA requires an extensive database of medical related
products. The database must contain information on the following
products, all prescription and over- the-counter (OTC) medications. The
database must also have comprehensive information on supplies. The
database must be in the form of a flat based file that can be
manipulated in a personal computer as well as have an application to
allow for easy data retrieval. That information will then be used to
populate databases contained in 3 locations and to populate the
National Drug File. The database must contain at a minimum the
following: NDC (10 digit format), Manufacturer, Route of
Administration, Package Size, Package Type, Inactivation Date, Old NDC
(multiple), Dosage Form, Strength, Units, Dispense Unit, Generic Name,
Controlled Substance Schedule. The information must be correct and no
information may be fabricated especially in regards to NDC or other
item numbers. The database selected must have the strength and units
separated into different fields. The database must also have historical
information on pricing and previous NDC information. The database needs
to have at least monthly updates. The company will need to allow for a
network license in three locations, National Acquisition Center and
Pharmacy Benefits Management at Hines, IL, and CIO Field Office in
Birmingham, AL. The company must also allow for at least 20 concurrent
users at one time. The company must also provide on-site training.
