94550 A -- LLNL SEEKS PARTNERS FOR DATAFOUNDRY SOFTWARE SOL 99-007 DUE
011899 POC obrien14@lln.gov The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
(LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with
the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking companies interested in
partnering with LLNL for the purpose of collaborating on the
DataFoundry Software. DataFoundry is an advanced data warehousing
environment providing powerful query and inference capabilities across
a wealth of scientific data. DataFoundry offers quick and reliable
access to data from multiple, heterogeneous data sources while
maintaining source autonomy. It performs full data integration,
providing the user with semantically consistent access through separate
interfaces for novice, intermediate and advanced users. It also
provides clustering and classification interfaces that operate directly
on the warehouse data. DataFoundry reduces the cost of warehouse
maintenance, making data warehousing feasible in scientific domains. It
uses explicitly defined meta-data to automatically generate mediation
code and an API that simplifies writing and maintaining wrappers. With
this approach, DataFoundry has demonstrated 45% savings in integration
time using a prototype developed for use by structural biologists at
LLNL. By reducing warehousing costs, DataFoundry decreases the time,
effort and expense of developing more effective drugs. The purpose of
this announcement is to provide an opportunity for industrial partners
to utilize and commercialize the software. All projects are conducted
under policies of strict non-disclosure of company proprietary
information. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT If you are interested in
working with LLNL on the DataFoundry software, please respond in
writing within 30 days of this announcement. Contact: Kevin O'Brien at
obrien14@llnl.gov. List the subject as Partnering for DataFoundry
Software. Posted 12/18/98 (W-SN281872). (0352) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0009 19981222\A-0009.SOL)
