(301) 496-0192 The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
Diseases (NIAID) intends to negotiate a modification to its 5 year
cost-reimbursement contract with TSI Mason Laboratories, NO1-AI-65303,
as a sole source under authority of 41 USC 253 (c) (1) and FAR
6.302-1. The contract currently conducts evaluations of candidate AIDS
vaccines in non-human primates, including selected immunological
evaluations during immunization and quantitative determination of virus
load after challenge. The negotiated modification will expand the
capacity of the contract to make it possible to conduct a comparative
trial of five candidate vaccines. An additional 150 rhesus macaques
will be individually housed under biocontainment conditions appropriate
for SIV (BSL 2-3) for the estimated two year duration of the study. See
