Administration (NOAA) will hold a public meeting for interested parties
pertaining to the potential commercial purchase by NOAA of global wind
profiles derived from a satellite-based light detection and ranging
("LIDAR") system. NOAA is exploring the use of such data in its weather
prediction products and services. This topic was the subject of a draft
Request for Proposal issued by NOAA on May 28, 1998. The purpose of
this meeting will be to address the project from a scientific and
commercial perspective. Discussion topics will include technical
requirements, potential business models, incentives, and data
distribution policy. All interested parties are invited to attend and
participate in this meeting. A written record of the meeting will be
prepared by a transcription service. The meeting will be held on
February 4, 1999, from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM Eastern Standard Time at NOAA's
facility at 1325 East-West Highway, Room #2358, Silver Spring, Maryland
