Specialist, at 202-874-3255 The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP)
is seeking prospective offerors capable of supplying an Intaglio Proof
Press. The proof press shall have the capability of printing up to 11
" by 11 " prints on sheet size of up to 13" by 13" in up to 3 colors at
a maximum speed of 120 sheets per hour. Additionally, the proof press
shall be capable of accepting 0.03" nickel printing plates. The print
quality shall match the print quality of U.S. currency and postage
stamps produced at speeds of 10,000 sheets per hour on existing
intaglio printing presses. The intended function of the Intaglio Proof
Press is to simulate currency and postage stamp production, with the
goal of reducing the production downtime of the equipment. Interested
businesses capable of providing this equipment should submit sufficient
data in order for the Government to determine company's capability.
This data shall be submitted to Sharon Phillips at the above address on
or before January 31, 1999. In addition to seeking potential sources,
the BEP is conducting a market research to determine the commercial
availability of intaglio proof presses. As a result, a Commercial Item
Questionnaire has been prepared to aid in this market research.
Interested sources wishing to participate in the market research shall
submit a written request for a copy of the questionnaire by fax or

solicitation be issued, a copy will be sent to qualified businesses
