The work to be performed consists of the refurbishment of four headgates in sequence, one in 1999 and three in 2000, with a completion date of early 2001. The refurbishment of the headgates will include cleaning of surface areas to be clear of rust and existing coatings followed by recoating. Principle features of the work to be performed include the following: Provide rigging and mobile crane service to move gate from the support pedestal (vertical position) located on top of Canyon Ferry Dam and lay gate down on a flatbed truck (horizontal position); transport gate to Canyon Ferry Powerplant for removal of gate wheels by Government personnel; and provide transportation to the Contractors worksite for gate refurbishment. There are four fixed wheel gates included in this contract. Only one gate will be worked on at a time to accommodate outage schedules for powerplant operations. Government forces will remove each gate from each penstock and place on a support pedestal for turnover to the contractor for completion of specified work. Government forces will also perform installation of the gate from each of the respective penstocks. The work is located at the Canyon Ferry Dam which is approximately 15 miles east of Helena, Montana. The bid opening date is tentatively scheduled for March 2, 1999, at the Bureau of Reclamation, Great Plains Regional Office, 316 North 26th Street, Billings, Montana, Room 2031. There is no charge for the first copy of the solicitation, additional sets may be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 each. After issuance, the solicitation may be viewed, without charge at the address mentioned above. All reasonable sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the Bureau of Reclamation.
