Contracting Oficer -- Mr Marc Lesser, 703-604-4242, CDB Reference #99-05 The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) intends to modify and extend, on a sole source basis, contract HQ0006-95-C-0006 with Computer Sciences Corporation, Incorporated (CSC), for scientific, engineering, and technical assistance (SETA) support. This effort will continue to provide programmatic and technical assistance for the National Missile Defense (NMD) Joint Program Office (JPO), Chief Architect/Engineer, Deputy for Technology Operations, Deputy for Strategic Relations, and selected organizational sub-elements. This modification will add 300,000 Direct Productive labor hours (DPHLs) to the current period of performance and 710,000 DPLHs for the 12-month extension (December 27, 1999, through December 26, 2000). BMDO is currently pursuing a number of major development and advanced technology programs to provide a ballistic missile defense capability. These programs, particularly NMD, are on critical, in some cases Congressionally mandated schedules. Specifically, the additional DPLHs and the one year extension are required to provide continued uninterrupted SETA support to the NMD JPO through two significant program milestones: the Integrated System Test scheduled for January 1999 and the Deployment Readiness Review scheduled for June 2000. These milestones are critical to maintaining the "3 + 3" NMD program schedule. Only CSC can provide the seamless support to ongoing Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) programs without start-up delays for staffing, familiarization, and training, based on its incumbent status and its extensive and comprehensive experience with NMD, Theater Air Missile Defense, BMD and related programs.
